Volunteer Opportunities

 

Southwest Community Action welcomes volunteers for a variety of tasks. Volunteer time is a necessity for most of our programs. Even small amounts of time are valuable to our programs. Examples of volunteer work include:

 

  • Read to children
  • Cut out items for children's bulletin boards
  • Teacher Aide in Head Start
  • Provide Spanish translation
  • Computer data entry
  • Reception and clerical work
  • Dispatch transit vehicals
  • Work with adults with developmental disabilities
  • Prepare Taxes
  • Paint houses
  • Research data
  • Light maintenance at centers--change light bulbs, lawn care, and paint.
  • Stock Community Cupboard
  • Deliver meals
  • Serve on advisory committee
  • Conduct surveys
  • Provide professional service for which you are licensed
  • Assist with Adult Day Care activities
  • Assist with ACMI House, a shelter that provides services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
  • Join RSVP if you are age 55 or over
  • Communities Of Promise offers youth to age 21 volunteer opportunities
